متن کاملHow do experts recognize schizophrenia: the role of the disorganization symptom.
OBJECTIVE Research on clinical reasoning has been useful in developing expert systems. These tools are based on Artificial Intelligence techniques which assist the physician in the diagnosis of complex diseases. The development of these systems is based on a cognitive model extracted through the identification of the clinical reasoning patterns applied by experts within the clinical decision-ma...
متن کاملHeterogeneity of structural brain changes in subtypes of schizophrenia revealed using magnetic resonance imaging pattern analysis.
BACKGROUND Schizophrenia is a multifaceted mental disorder characterized by cognitive, perceptual, and affective symptom dimensions. This heterogeneity at the phenomenological level may be subserved by complex and heterogeneous patterns of structural abnormalities. Thus, delineating such patterns may improve the insight into the variability of disease and facilitate future magnetic resonance im...
متن کاملVariable global dysconnectivity and individual differences in schizophrenia.
BACKGROUND A fundamental challenge for understanding neuropsychiatric disease is identifying sources of individual differences in psychopathology, especially when there is substantial heterogeneity of symptom expression, such as is found in schizophrenia (SCZ). We hypothesized that such heterogeneity might arise in part from consistently widespread yet variably patterned alterations in the conn...
متن کاملTreatment-Responsiveness of Negative Symptoms in Schizophrenia: A double-blind placebo-control clinical trial
Background: The negative symptoms of schizophrenia remain a major clinical challenge. Nortriptyline is a serotonin and noradrenalin reuptake inhibitor and belongs to secondary amine tricycles. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of nortriptyline on the negative symptoms of schizophrenia.
